Well I don't have any to share yet, but hopefully soon. I spent part of nap time going through a couple of magazines and pulling out recipes. I've gotten several free subscriptions to different sorts of magazines. Some are losers. Some are pretty good. Actually my favorite has been a diabetic one. Lots of recipes and nutritional info. Here's some of the new ones to try soon...
applesauce cake
coconut cake
some chicken sausage casserole thing
garden burgers
vegetable barley
chicken taco casserole
pinto bean soup
Don't those sound yummy?
The kitchen was hopping today. The oven was full of bread and banana muffins. I had scalloped potatoes in one crock pot and chicken legs in another. 2 crockpots.....the height of luxury!
The chicken legs were an experiment. They are on sale this week and I wanted to see what I could do with them. I tried the easiest thing I could think of first, which was the crockpot. I threw in the whole 4# frozen bag and turned them on high. After a while, I seasoned them and let them keep going until the meat fell off the bone.
They were a big hit! One bag wasn't enough though so next time I'll have to do 2 in both crock pots.
The left over scalloped potatoes will be tomorrow's potato soup. Again in the crock pot. I boiled the chicken bones to make broth to add to our soup.
We're having a couple of the senior ladies over for lunch after church and one of them made a special request of corn bread. (Isn't that cute?) I'm not too good at making corn bread unless there's a box that says "Jiffy". I guess we'll see.
