Mark 6

In Mark 6:31 Jesus is speaking to his disciples. However this passage has a great principle that I think can be a real encouragement when applied to young mothers.

"Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." Mark 6:31

Doesn't this sound typical of a mom with babies and toddlers? Many little hands and voices all wanting and needing something from Momma. She is busy taking care of those around her and often ignores her own needs. But Jesus doesn't.

He knew this need before even one disciple spoke up. And He had a plan. "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." I know that sometimes it seems like there is no quiet place with little ones. But God knows this too and when you lift your care up to Him, He will provide a way.

This is the same chapter that He multiplied 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed 5000 men and had 12 basketfuls leftover! He takes such a little bit and makes it so much!

Further down in verse 56, people are bringing their loved ones to Him to be healed. They are coming on mats left and right. They are begging Jesus to heal them. As I read this I can imagine their sense of desperation knowing Jesus is their last hope. So.."They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed." Just the edge and amazing miracles were performed.

A little bit of Jesus goes a long way.
