Have you ever envied someone else's life? In my eyes, Aunt Bea has the perfect life. I noticed it last night while watching Andy Griffith.
She sends Opie off to school with no second thoughts. It's a good place and Ms. Crump is a good attentive teacher. There is no worry about bad influences and besides, Opie is always a good boy.
She has the rest of the day to do neat things like cook whatever yummy dinner she wants for her family without having to think about how long it will take. She has plenty of time to bake cookies and pecan pies for Opie when he gets home from school. She looks great in an apron.
There is no one in her house all day. She can make it noisy or quiet, whichever she prefers at whatever given moment. She can clean and organize her house the way she likes it and no one will move anything. That means it is ALWAYS clean!! Her Blue Willow china are her everyday dishes.
Because she has so much time, she can go to lunch with Claira whenever she likes and it is very simple. She can walk to the market when she is out of sugar for her pie. There is a friend to greet and visit with at every corner.
This has become my favorite show. I love Aunt Bea. My life is as different from hers as any life could be. And though I would not change that, it is nice to daydream........
