I Wanna Be A Caleb!

Numbers chapter 14 tells the story of the 12 spies going into the promised land. 10 spies report that the land is good but there is NO way of taking it. Might as well start packing for Egypt. And the entire Israelite community starts grumbling and wailing! Seriously...over the opinions of only 10.

But Joshua and Caleb saw things differently even though they did not disagree with the report that was given. Their trust was in the God Who had proved Himself mighty on their behalf...not in the strength of man. Joshua and Caleb did not, as Oswald Chambers says, "enthrone common sense". They were recklessly abandoned to God. They did not judge by outward appearance but trusted the Lord to bring about what He promised. Their eyes were on God, not men.

Of Caleb, God says he "has a different spirit and follows Me wholeheartedly." Numbers 14:24

I wanna be a Caleb!
