This Week

It's Wednesday!!  And I love Wednesday. 

 

But yesterday was Tuesday.  And I don't love Tuesdays.  In fact, I hate Tuesdays.  And when I got up my attitude reflected it.  But somewhere during the day the Lord got a hold of my bad attitude and reminded me that every word I said and every negative thought I allowed was a choice.  An extremely selfish choice and a bad example to my kids.  And since I have the power to choose differently I decided it was time. 

 

Have you ever read The Love Dare?   It's from the good folks that made the movie Fireproof.   Excellent read and a great challenge to do not only for your marriage but for any relationship that needs a boost. 

 

Here's a paragraph that I particularly like...

"Love will inspire you to become a patient person.  When you choose to be patient, you respond in a positive way to a negative situation.  You are slow to anger.  You choose to have a long fuse instead of a quick temper.  Rather than being restless and demanding, love helps you settle down and begin extending mercy to those around you.  Patience brings an internal calm during an external storm." 

 

Speaking of love, we spent some time preparing for Valentines Day yesterday.  Glue, glitter, and paper scraps everywhere.  I heart Valentines Day!  

 

 

I don't usually do anything to decorate for V-day, but this year I wanted to change that.  Then again, I don't want to spend much money but want to re-purpose what I already have. 

While the kids made valentines, I worked on this garland for the fireplace.  It doesn't look like the picture on Pinterest, but I was able to do it without buying anything and I like the way it turned out. 

 

~I have to brag on my big girls a bit.  Mally has been sick this week.  Throwing up or being sick 3 nights in a row.  Their room is on the other end of the house and I never heard a thing!  LB and Lane got up with her in the night and totally took care of her and cleaned up everything while I was still sleeping.  Thank you girls!! 

 

~Since she was sick, she missed the symphony field trip on Monday.  My son offered to stay home with her which meant the rest of us could still go.  Love him!  I've been to the symphony several times in the past but never enjoyed it as much as this time.  It was especially for kids so they played kid songs that everyone knew.  Star Wars was awesome and Jes was instantly in love.  He was on the edge of his seat the whole time just saying over and over, "Wow!"  "Mom did you hear that?!"  and

hitting his brother on the other side of him to point out something neat.  He was a whole different show all in himself. 

 

~Yesterday I got to talk to Renee on the phone.  I can't remember the last time we actually got to talk on the phone for like 25 minutes.  And the funny thing is that even though my kids were finished with school and chores and should've been enjoying free time, they were gathered about me either listening to my conversation or whispering something they thought I needed to know.   So we had to talk about how to act if mom ever gets to talk to Renee on the phone again. 

 

~So as I was saying its Wednesday.  And that means AWANA!!  Oh happy day!  Love those boys of mine.  And last week Misty commented on how well behaved they were.  Yep, I agree.  They are awesome.  Even though I still get bad reports of them in games....oh well.   Hopefully I'll have a full class tonight. 

 

~Awana means a trip into town and that means grocery shopping.  I'm trying the Paleo diet with the autoimmune protocol for a couple of months to see if I can get a handle on this wicked disease that I HATE.  Lots of people have had great success with this approach.  But I've learned that lots of people doesn't mean that'll happen for me.  So I'm not all dreamy and starry eyed about it, but it's something I haven't tried yet so I'm all over it.  Anyhoo.....that means a different approach to the grocery store this week.
