1. It's so hard to say no. Even if you want to. The Placement Unit calls and you get a few details. And immediately you start to get a mental picture and all of a sudden you are ALL IN and they just can't get here fast enough.
2. Go to court. Don't miss it. That's where you find out the truth in the case. And for heaven sakes don't leave early.
3. You only have to ask permission for the first hair cut. After that you're good.
4. Nothing strikes fear like the words, "I think he may need stitches." Trips to the ER with your fosterling is a different thing than with your own.
5. DHS does not want your kids. Homeschoolers, do you hear me?
6. When people know you foster, you become some sort of hero. That's crazy. It's living life with extra people except that you are certain to get your heart broken.
7. Thrift stores are a gift from God.
8. Foster moms need a secret chocolate stash. They do not need to share this and it should never run out.
9. Other people's babies require more chocolate than your own babies.
10. No matter how much it hurts, it is worth it. It's not about me and that baby is worth loving.
