When You Bite The Dust

"For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity."  Prov 24:16

Fostering makes me feel like this guy who keeps falling over and over again.  The crazy balance of family life and trying to help broken kids heal and adjust has made me stake my claim on this verse lately.  It holds so much hope.

It doesn't say "when a righteous man slips, or trips, or stumbles.  It says he falls.  He wipes out.  He busted.  And not once or twice.  Several times!

But then he gets back up.  And he gets back up again.  And again.  He doesn't wallow around in self-pity or believe the lie that he is a failure.  His identity is not in question.  He is still righteous.   He is still God's man.

And he keeps going.
